Spider Tanks Returns Stronger with Immutable

The Legendary Arena Makes a Comeback

One of the earliest and most recognized blockchain games, Spider Tanks, is making a triumphant return. Dutch studio GAMEDIA has officially announced that the game will relaunch under a new name — Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos — in partnership with Immutable.

This revival marks not just a technical upgrade but also a symbolic victory for GAMEDIA, reclaiming creative control after a long and public fallout with Gala Games. The new version will go live in early access on December 8, 2025, under Immutable Play, alongside other major web3 titles like Ubisoft’s and Habbo X’s upcoming projects.

A Fresh Start with Immutable

With this relaunch, Spider Tanks finds a new home on Immutable, the powerful Ethereum Layer 2 scaling network built specifically for games. Immutable’s infrastructure allows faster transactions, zero gas fees for players, and smoother digital ownership experiences — all without compromising the fun.

Robbie Ferguson, Immutable’s Co-Founder and President, highlighted how this collaboration reflects the platform’s vision:

“Spider Tanks embodies what our platform stands for—truly fun and high-quality gameplay that harnesses the benefits of web3 without friction.”

For GAMEDIA, this new chapter is about more than technical upgrades. CEO Dittmar Tukker said the reboot is a chance to rebuild Spider Tanks with a partner who shares their values:

“Reviving Spider Tanks isn’t just about bringing back a fan favorite to a community worth fighting for. It’s also about showing the market that web3 games should be about fun first!”

That “fun-first” mindset may be exactly what the web3 gaming space needs right now.

Teasers, Trailers, and Tank Hype

Rumors of the comeback started brewing back in August 2024, when Immutable teased a new partnership with GAMEDIA. Though no title was mentioned then, sharp-eyed fans quickly spotted familiar tank footage in the teaser clip.

The community immediately connected the dots — Spider Tanks was back. Immutable also called GAMEDIA a “proven web3 success” and praised their 18 years of game development experience, suggesting that this wasn’t a simple remaster, but a full-scale revival.

And now it’s official. Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos will soon open its doors to players again, featuring improved performance, streamlined mechanics, and Immutable’s robust asset infrastructure behind it.

From Esport Hopeful to Legal Headache

To understand why this relaunch matters, it’s worth revisiting how we got here.

Originally, Spider Tanks launched in 2021 as a collaboration between GAMEDIA and Gala Games. The title was heavily promoted as a web3 esport, with NFT-based tank parts, customizable skins, and the native token $SILK. It was one of the first major projects designed for GalaChain and had strong early traction.

However, by mid-2024, cracks began to show. GAMEDIA accused Gala of mismanagement, broken promises, and a shift away from gaming toward other ventures like film and real estate. The partnership soured, and a detailed public statement from GAMEDIA in May 2024 revealed just how deep the rift had become.

The studio claimed it had to handle marketing and community events — including the once-popular “Spider Fridays” — on its own, despite Gala’s promises to manage promotion. Legal threats followed, making communication with the player base nearly impossible for months.

The Fallout and Legal Victory

By October 2023, GAMEDIA had reached its limit. In a decisive move, the studio walked away from Gala entirely, stating:

“We could no longer allow Gala Games to continue to use our commitment to the game and our IP to enrich themselves at the expense of the community.”

Gala Games retaliated by attempting to claim ownership of the Spider Tanks IP, bringing the matter to the Central District Court of California. But in September 2024, the court dismissed the case, declaring a lack of jurisdiction.

This legal outcome freed GAMEDIA to fully reclaim its creation and reimagine the future of Spider Tanks without external interference. It was a turning point — not just for GAMEDIA, but for the principle of developer autonomy in blockchain gaming.

Immutable and GAMEDIA: A Partnership Built on Trust

Once the legal dust settled, GAMEDIA wasted no time rebuilding. Late in 2024, the studio began posting hints of collaboration with Immutable. By early 2025, photos featuring Immutable’s Robbie Ferguson surfaced, confirming that a new chapter had begun.

Immutable, known for supporting top-tier web3 titles, provided not only the tech but also the ecosystem GAMEDIA needed to thrive again. The upcoming Cores of Chaos launch represents a rebirth — one that’s powered by trust, innovation, and a renewed focus on player experience.

What to Expect on Launch

The December 8, 2025 early access release promises fresh features, faster gameplay, and enhanced blockchain integrations. A brand-new Discord server has also opened its gates, inviting fans to join the community, discuss strategies, and track updates directly from the devs.

It’s safe to expect smoother PvP battles, revamped visuals, and possibly a redesigned tank NFT system built for Immutable’s gas-free environment.

And for long-time Spider Tanks players, this return isn’t just nostalgic — it’s vindication. After years of uncertainty, the arena is ready to open again.

A Symbol of Resilience in Web3 Gaming

Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos stands as a reminder that great blockchain games can survive even the toughest challenges. With Immutable’s cutting-edge platform and GAMEDIA’s unwavering dedication, the title is poised to reclaim its spot among the most respected multiplayer experiences in the web3 world.

The message is clear: web3 gaming isn’t about corporate control or token speculation — it’s about community, creativity, and fun.

And come December 8, the tanks roll out once again.
