A Fresh Take on PvE Survival from Industry Veterans
Tainted Studios, a bold new name in gaming made up of veterans from Blizzard, Activision, and Immutable, has just announced its debut title — V.O.I.D. This isn't just another team-based survival game. It's a dark, high-stakes adventure that dares to innovate in both gameplay and distribution. And yes, it’s built on blockchain — but not in the way you’re used to.
V.O.I.D. was officially introduced during a recent interview with GamesBeat, where co-founders Daniel Paez and Montgomery Guilhaus laid out their vision: a hardcore PvE experience fused with tokenized game ownership. Think Left 4 Dead meets Diablo, but with champions corrupted by darkness, evolving maps, and gameplay that puts precision, teamwork, and survival front and center.

Inside the World of V.O.I.D.
Set in a grim fantasy world overrun by a creeping force known as The Void, V.O.I.D. throws players into the heart of Urzula’s Bastion, a constantly shifting map where no two runs are the same. Lane themes, loot drops, and enemy waves change with every session. Three-player squads must fight their way through endless enemies, using strategic item builds and champion abilities to survive.
There are six champions available at launch — all former powerhouses now corrupted and struggling to escape their doomed world. Survival isn’t guaranteed. Coordination is key. And if you’re lucky, powerful bosses might drop rare loot you can extract and keep — a feature reminiscent of MMOs and raid-based gameplay.
Game Licenses as Tradeable Tokens
What sets V.O.I.D. apart in the blockchain games space is how it’s being sold and shared. Instead of going through traditional platforms, the game will use tokenized licenses — game ownership as ERC-20 tokens. When you buy V.O.I.D., you receive a token that acts as your license. That token gives you access to the full game and — here’s the kicker — you can resell it when you’re done.
“It’s as if I went on Steam and bought a game that’s actually a token,” explained Paez. “When I’m finished, I can trade it if I want.”
This new model allows fans and creators to not only own the game but also take part in its promotion and distribution, earning value as they help it grow.

Built by Developers Who’ve Done It All
Tainted Studios isn’t another fly-by-night blockchain project. The founding team has worked on Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Big Time, Gods Unchained, and Guild of Guardians. Daniel Paez himself previously led development at Immutable and consulted on over 20 blockchain titles.
With that depth of experience, the team knows what works — and what doesn’t. They're applying years of lessons learned across both AAA games and Web3 projects to build something new, functional, and player-first.
Calling Out the Flaws in Current Web3 Gaming
Paez didn’t hold back when discussing the problems he sees in today’s web3 game landscape. Many developers, he says, are stuck recycling old models — focused more on earning mechanics and token liquidity than real gameplay innovation.
“What we've seen are a lot of studios copy-pasting what a previous studio had done, saying, ‘We’re going to make it sustainable.’”
Even worse are the “zombie companies” — well-funded Web3 projects with no products or players. These studios survive by managing treasury funds instead of actually building engaging games.
V.O.I.D. is Tainted Studios’ answer to that stagnation — a project aimed at serious gamers, not just token farmers or casual dabblers.
Building the Game and Community Together
From day one, Tainted Studios is investing in community building. Their Discord server is already live, with streamers, content creators, and early supporters joining the conversation. A Founder's Edition pre-sale is in the works, allowing dedicated players to get in early and help shape the game before full launch.
“It's all about getting that core community in there,” Paez said. “Especially the content creators and the whales.”
The team is keen on receiving feedback, sharing behind-the-scenes progress, and refining features based on what early adopters want.
A Bold New Direction for Blockchain Games
What Tainted Studios is doing with V.O.I.D. goes beyond cool gameplay and blockchain buzzwords. It’s about giving power back to players — through real gameplay, real item rewards, and a distribution model that respects ownership.
You don’t just play the game. You own your copy. You shape its future. You become part of its growth.
For those who’ve been waiting for blockchain games to finally offer something truly engaging, V.O.I.D. might just be the turning point.
