Spellborne Blood Moon PvP Frenzy

Spellborne Blood Moon Event

A Fresh Twist on Competitive Blockchain Gaming

Spellborne is turning up the heat this month with the launch of its Blood Moon event—an experimental PvP experience designed to shake up the battlefield with harsher rules, faster matches, and high-value rewards. If you’ve been craving something fresh in the world of blockchain games, this limited-time event is absolutely worth jumping into.

In true Mon Studios fashion, the event blends strategic gameplay with play-to-earn incentives, creating a competitive environment that rewards both skill and engagement. Let’s break down everything you need to know before diving into the chaos.

What Is Spellborne?

Spellborne is a free-to-play MMORPG that mixes classic monster-catching with farming, crafting, seasonal quests, and turn-based combat. You begin your adventure as one of three hunter characters, exploring a charming retro-styled 2D world packed with monsters, resources, and secrets.

The game takes a hybrid approach to web3: blockchain features are fully optional. Players who want a traditional experience can explore, craft, battle, and enjoy the story without interacting with any crypto systems. Meanwhile, web3 players can collect on-chain monsters, items, apartments, and cosmetics as NFTs. Tokens can be earned or used, but they never gate progress.

This dual-design makes Spellborne accessible for newcomers while still offering ownership, trading, and economic participation for blockchain-savvy players. With guild systems, guild wars, seasonal updates, and multiple PvP leagues, there’s always a new layer of progression to explore.

Season 2 brought major updates back in September—and now the Blood Moon takes things even further with an experimental competitive mode focused entirely on PvP.

What Is the Blood Moon Event?

The Blood Moon event introduces a set of experimental PvP league rules that reshape how battles play out. These rules are harsher, faster, and designed to prevent stalling tactics, forcing players to rethink their strategies from the ground up.

Mon Studios has made it clear that these rules may evolve during the event, so players should check them regularly. Here’s what makes Blood Moon battles so different.

New Experimental PvP Rules

To keep matches fast and competitive, the Blood Moon event enforces several new restrictions and mechanics:

1. No Healing Allowed

Healing moves are completely disabled. Once you take damage, you’re committed—no recovery mid-fight.

2. Bleeding Effect After 3 Turns

If a monster stays active for more than three consecutive turns, it begins to bleed. Bleeding increases each turn:

  • 5% max HP

  • 10%

  • 25%

  • 50%

  • Until the monster is eliminated

This prevents defensive playstyles from dragging matches out.

3. No Sleep, Freeze, or Flinch

All moves that apply these effects simply fail, even as secondary effects. This ensures players rely on raw strategy, not control-based RNG.

4. Random Stat Boosts Every 3 Turns

Every three turns, each monster receives a +1 boost to a random stat: ATK, DEF, SpATK, SpDEF, or SPD. This adds tension and unpredictability to matches.

5. Switching Costs HP

Switching out a monster now costs 4% of its max HP. You’ll need to think carefully about when to rotate your team.

Together, these mechanics create high-tempo matches that reward calculated aggression and timing rather than passive defensive play.

Play and Earn Rewards During the Event

The Blood Moon event brings several reward layers based on performance, participation, and token spending. Here's what you can earn.

Battle Chests

Winning PvP matches grants battle chests. Higher leagues award stronger chests, and during this event:

  • Chest costs are reduced

  • Rewards inside are increased

Chests contain randomized loot, with higher tiers offering more valuable drops.

Speed-Up Rewards With $BORNE

Players can use the $BORNE token to speed up chest unlocks. If you spend at least 50% of the maximum speed-up amount, you’ll earn:

  • Abstract Shards or

  • Summoner Tickets

Rewards depend on the chain you prefer.

Special Halloween Chest

Exclusive to the Blood Moon event, this chest guarantees:

  • 2 Abstract Shards or

  • 2 Summoner Tickets

It’s awarded in addition to normal battle chest rewards.

Spending Leaderboard

The event tracks how much $BORNE each player spends on chest acceleration. This determines weekly leaderboard positions, with additional rewards to be finalized based on overall participation.

The more you play—and the more you invest in speeding up progress—the higher your earning potential.

Should You Join the Blood Moon Event?

If you love turn-based monster battlers or grew up on Pokémon-style games, Spellborne already offers a nostalgic yet modern experience. The Blood Moon event takes that formula and injects it with pure competitive adrenaline.

It’s fast. It’s unpredictable. And the rewards are absolutely worth grinding for.

Whether you're a casual player, a hardcore PvP grinder, or a web3 collector seeking valuable on-chain assets, this event offers something for everyone.
