Nine Chronicles Reworks Adventure Boss

Nine Chronicles

Nine Chronicles has rolled out its latest major update, v200470, bringing a fresh progression system, easier combat, new collections, and a clearer connection to the wider Nine Chronicles Universe.

Released on August 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM KST, the update focuses heavily on the rebuilt Adventure Boss system. At the same time, every monster across the game has temporarily become 20% weaker, giving players an unusual opportunity to explore content that may have previously been too difficult.

For blockchain gaming fans, however, the most interesting part may be the growing connection between Nine Chronicles and its expanding ecosystem of titles.

Adventure Boss Gets a New Purpose

The biggest feature in v200470 is the redesigned Adventure Boss system.

At its centre is a brand-new crafting and progression material called Distorted Essence. There are five different types:

  • Attack Essence

  • Defense Essence

  • HP Essence

  • Hit Essence

  • Speed Essence

Each of the first four types is linked to a particular boss. Surt drops Attack Essence, Laufey provides Defense Essence, Jormungandr drops HP Essence, and Hera is associated with Hit Essence.

This makes farming considerably more targeted. Instead of simply grinding Adventure Boss floors and hoping for a useful reward, players can now choose encounters based on the stat they want to improve.

Speed Essence works slightly differently, appearing as a reward on Floors 11 and 21.

New Rewards Encourage Deeper Progress

The amount of Distorted Essence awarded also increases as players push further into the Adventure Boss.

First-clear rewards are available on several key floors:

  • Floor 6: 1 Essence

  • Floor 16: 2 Essences

  • Floor 26: 3 Essences

  • Floor 11: 1 Speed Essence

  • Floor 21: 2 Speed Essences

The bounty system has also been rebalanced. Existing rewards such as Gold Dust, Ruby Dust, Runes, and Emerald Dust have received adjusted drop weights, while Distorted Essence has been added to the random reward pool.

That gives the Adventure Boss more reasons to revisit beyond simply clearing another floor.

25 New Collections Add More Progression

The new Essence system feeds directly into another important addition: 25 new collections.

These collections are built around Distorted Essence, creating additional progression goals for players who want to optimize their characters and equipment.

Interestingly, two existing rewards have also been moved. The Epic Hammer, previously found on Floor 6, and the Circle, previously located on Floor 11, can now both be obtained on Floor 8.

Combined with the new collections, the changes make Adventure Boss feel less like a straightforward floor-clearing activity and more like a long-term progression system.

Every Monster Is Temporarily 20% Weaker

There is also some good news for players who have been stuck on difficult content.

With v200470, every monster in every world is 20% weaker.

This isn't a permanent balance change. The reduction is being presented as a limited-time event bonus and will remain active until the next update.

For players, that creates a valuable window to experiment. Difficult stages can potentially become manageable, while players who are already progressing efficiently can use the bonus to push further into content and collect resources faster.

It is essentially an invitation to see how far a character can go while the temporary advantage is active.

Nine Chronicles Universe Connections Go Live

Another important addition is the new Nine Chronicles Universe connection status display.

The information is now visible both through the portal and directly inside the game. Players can see their PETPOP and RB nicknames, along with linked quest information, without having to leave the client.

This might sound like a relatively small interface improvement, but it points toward something much bigger.

Future updates are expected to introduce NCG reward season banners, collaboration event displays, and cross-title milestones to the same panel. In other words, Nine Chronicles is gradually building infrastructure where activity in one game or product can connect with another.

For the broader world of Blockchain games, this kind of ecosystem approach is particularly interesting. Rather than treating each title as an isolated experience, developers can create networks where players have reasons to explore multiple games.

Shop Updates and NCG Vouchers Return

The update also makes several changes to the game's shops.

The Free Package has been reworked, while the Mobile Shop now provides a selection popup when players are holding NCG. This removes an extra navigation step and makes purchases more convenient.

The Mileage Shop has also received a new Transcendent-grade skin, giving collectors another cosmetic target.

There is more coming in September, too. NCG Vouchers are scheduled to return through updated portal purchase missions, giving players another way to interact with Nine Chronicles' economy.

What Makes Nine Chronicles Different?

Nine Chronicles is a fully decentralized idle MMORPG developed by Planetarium, built around the idea of a player-powered blockchain world.

The game is free to play, supports NFTs, and operates across its own blockchain infrastructure alongside Ethereum. It is available on Windows and Steam and supports cross-platform multiplayer.

Gameplay centres on a Norse-inspired world where players fight alongside the goddess Freya, progressing through stages, gathering materials, crafting equipment, and developing their characters.

The idle foundation is only part of the experience, though. Systems such as Adventure Boss, Arena, World Boss raids, crafting, trading, and collections give players plenty of long-term objectives.

A Multi-Chain Economy

One of Nine Chronicles' more unusual features is its multi-chain structure.

Instead of putting the entire player population and economy onto a single chain, the ecosystem uses separate chains named after Norse figures, including Odin and Heimdall.

The game's primary economic asset, NCG (Nine Chronicles Gold), plays an important role across crafting, trading, rewards, and shops. The studio's broader philosophy is built around supply and demand, making the in-game economy an important part of progression.

Nine Chronicles is also open source, allowing its community to inspect the game's code and build with the technology.

The Nine Chronicles Universe Is Expanding

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from v200470 is that Nine Chronicles is becoming more than a single MMORPG.

The appearance of PETPOP and RB information inside the main client suggests that the Nine Chronicles Universe is being designed as an interconnected ecosystem. The earlier move into mobile with Nine Chronicles M also shows how Planetarium is exploring different ways to bring players into the franchise.

For now, v200470 provides the foundation rather than the finished vision. The new connection panel is only the beginning, with cross-title rewards, events, and milestones planned for future updates.

With a temporary 20% difficulty reduction, 25 new collections, Distorted Essence farming, and new cross-game features, Nine Chronicles v200470 gives both veterans and returning players plenty of reasons to jump back into the world.

And with NCG Vouchers returning in September, the game's evolving economy will be worth watching as the Nine Chronicles Universe continues to grow.
