InfiniGods Shuts Down After $16M Raise

InfiniGods is winding down operations, marking the end of another ambitious project in the blockchain gaming industry. The studio, known for combining mythology, mobile gaming, and Web3 technology, has confirmed that it will shut down its servers no earlier than November 1, 2026. Its flagship mobile game, King of Destiny, has already been removed from app stores, and development across the entire InfiniGods Universe has stopped.
The announcement also brings important changes for NFT holders and GOD token participants. While existing NFTs will remain in their owners' wallets, their functionality will be extremely limited, and monthly GOD distributions for InfiniGods Vault NFT holders are coming to an end.
For players, collectors, and blockchain gaming enthusiasts, the shutdown is another reminder that even projects backed by major investors can struggle to sustain their ecosystems over the long term.
InfiniGods Announces Its Shutdown
Founded in 2021, InfiniGods aimed to build a gaming universe inspired by mythology and supported by blockchain technology. Its games combined familiar mobile mechanics with digital collectibles, token rewards, and NFT ownership.
However, the studio has now confirmed that it is winding down operations. Its servers will be shut down no earlier than November 1, 2026, although the announcement does not establish a final guaranteed shutdown date.
The first major change has already taken place: King of Destiny is no longer available through mobile app stores. The development team has also stopped working on the game and every other project within the InfiniGods Universe.
In its farewell message, the studio thanked its community for participating in the project, collecting its assets, and playing its games.
For existing players, this means there will be no new content, gameplay updates, or future development to look forward to. Once the servers go offline, access to server-dependent features will also be lost.
What Happens to InfiniGods NFTs?
One of the most important questions concerns the NFTs associated with the InfiniGods ecosystem.
According to the studio, players and collectors will retain ownership of their NFTs. These assets will not automatically disappear from their wallets simply because the company is shutting down.
However, ownership does not guarantee continued functionality.
The team has warned that NFT utility will be extremely limited, with no further utility planned. Collectors should therefore distinguish between retaining an onchain asset and being able to use it within a functioning game.
For example, an NFT may remain recorded on its blockchain even after the game that originally supported it becomes unavailable. If its main purpose was to provide gameplay advantages, unlock features, or grant access to rewards, those benefits may no longer be accessible.
This distinction is especially important in blockchain games, where digital assets can exist independently of the applications that give them practical value.
The shutdown does not necessarily mean every InfiniGods NFT will become worthless on the secondary market. However, its future market value and demand are uncertain, and collectors should not assume that existing benefits will continue.
Final GOD Token Distribution Arrives October 26
InfiniGods has also confirmed the end of monthly GOD token distributions for holders of InfiniGods Vault NFTs.
The final distribution is scheduled for October 26, 2026. After this payment, monthly payouts will stop permanently under the announced plan.
Existing recipients do not need to take any action to receive this final distribution, according to the team.
The announcement has not provided further details about the future of the GOD token itself. Consequently, the end of Vault distributions should not automatically be interpreted as confirmation that the token will cease to exist.
Nevertheless, the decision removes one of the ecosystem's established reward mechanisms.
For holders who acquired Vault NFTs specifically to earn recurring GOD distributions, this change significantly alters the purpose of their assets. Without additional utility or new reward programs, the original incentive structure will no longer operate as before.
Token holders should also avoid assuming that GOD will retain its previous in-game uses once the associated services are discontinued.
From a $16 Million Fundraising Effort to Closure
InfiniGods' shutdown is particularly notable because the studio attracted substantial investment during its development.
In May 2022, the company announced a $9 million seed funding round led by Pantera Capital, with Animoca Brands and Framework Ventures also participating.
In April 2024, InfiniGods announced an $8 million Series A round, again led by Pantera Capital. The funding was intended to help expand King of Destiny and reach a global audience.
The supplied funding figures add up to $17 million rather than $16 million. Although the shutdown announcement describes the studio as having raised $16 million, the individual round amounts cited above should be treated as reported figures that require reconciliation.
Despite this financial backing, the studio has ultimately decided to end development.
InfiniGods also reported more than 2.2 million cumulative downloads across its mobile games by January 2025. That figure demonstrated that its titles had attracted a meaningful audience, although downloads alone do not reveal player retention, revenue, or the long-term financial health of the business.
The closure highlights a persistent challenge for Web3 developers: securing investment and attracting players are only the first steps. A sustainable business also needs to keep users engaged and generate enough revenue to support ongoing development and infrastructure.
The GOD Token and Godchain Vision
GOD was designed to serve as a central part of the InfiniGods economy, connecting rewards, NFTs, and gameplay across its expanding ecosystem.
In October 2024, the project announced an airdrop representing 7.5% of the token's total supply. Of that allocation, 4.25% was reserved for InfiniPass holders and 3.25% for Elder God NFT holders, with additional bonuses also announced. The Valhalla Foundation managed the distribution.
The ecosystem subsequently introduced God Vaults, high-tier ERC-721 NFTs on Ethereum that were minted through Magic Eden. Holders could stake these NFTs through Valhalla Staking to earn GOD, while a leveling system offered additional perks.
GOD later expanded through LayerZero's omnichain infrastructure, with availability extending to Base and crosschain movement involving Ethereum, Arbitrum Nova, and Hyperliquid.
In 2025, InfiniGods announced Godchain, a dedicated Layer 3 gaming chain developed with B3. The network was intended to support the studio's mobile titles, using GOD for in-game transactions, staking rewards, and governance.
The shutdown raises questions about how much of this planned ecosystem will remain operational. Although blockchain assets and smart contracts can outlive a development team, the services, applications, and user activity that make them useful may not.
What Made King of Destiny Different?
King of Destiny was InfiniGods' flagship mobile title, built around casual luck-based gameplay for iOS and Android.
Drawing inspiration from games such as Coin Master and Monopoly Go, it combined spins, jackpots, progression through ancient civilizations, mythical city-building, and battles against legendary monsters.
The game ran on Arbitrum and featured an in-game currency called Fate. Players could collect Fate in Piggy Banks, which were represented as onchain collectibles. These assets could be traded through a marketplace or opened to return Fate to a player's account.
Fate could also be spent on pack openings featuring rare and limited-edition avatars.
The game later incorporated GOD token events, while Elder God NFT holders received in-game power-ups. This connected the mobile experience with the wider InfiniGods NFT and token economy.
The concept demonstrated how blockchain systems could be integrated into familiar mobile gaming mechanics without making the entire experience revolve around complex crypto transactions.
However, the game's dependence on a centralized development team and operating servers also illustrates a major limitation. Even when some assets are recorded onchain, the underlying gameplay can still depend on services controlled by the developer.
InfiniMerge, Immortal Siege, and the Wider Universe
InfiniGods was not built around a single game alone.
Its lineup also included InfiniMerge, a Greek mythology-themed puzzle game, and Immortal Siege, a tower defense title. Together, these projects formed the foundation of a broader gaming universe built around mythological characters and interconnected digital assets.
The studio also offered InfiniPass NFTs, which provided holders with early access, gameplay perks, and NFT rewards.
The decision to stop development across the entire InfiniGods Universe means that these projects will not receive further development under the announced plan.
For players who invested time in several titles, the closure represents the loss of a shared gaming environment rather than simply the discontinuation of one mobile game.
It also raises broader questions about NFT interoperability. Assets may be technically transferable between wallets or applications, but meaningful interoperability requires compatible systems and developers willing to support those assets.
Without continued development, an interconnected NFT ecosystem can lose much of the value it originally promised players.
What Players and NFT Holders Should Know
The immediate priorities are understanding the timeline and avoiding assumptions about future rewards.
Here are the key dates and changes to keep in mind:
October 26, 2026: Final GOD distribution for InfiniGods Vault NFT holders.
No further monthly payouts: Vault distributions will end after the final payment.
November 1, 2026, or later: InfiniGods servers will shut down, with the exact final date not yet guaranteed by the announcement.
NFT ownership continues: Existing NFTs will remain with their owners, but their utility will be extremely limited.
Development ends: No further development is planned for King of Destiny or the wider InfiniGods Universe.
Players and collectors should review official announcements, understand which benefits depend on active servers, and avoid treating past rewards or planned features as guarantees of future utility.
What InfiniGods' Closure Means for Web3 Gaming
InfiniGods' winding down is another significant example of the challenges facing blockchain gaming studios. The project attracted millions of dollars in investment, developed multiple mobile titles, introduced an ecosystem token, and explored dedicated blockchain infrastructure.
Yet those achievements were not enough to keep the operation running.
The most important lesson is that NFT ownership and sustainable game development are two different things. An asset may remain onchain, but its gameplay benefits, reward systems, and practical purpose can disappear when the company behind it shuts down.
For the wider Web3 gaming industry, the closure reinforces the importance of sustainable revenue, long-term player engagement, transparent token economics, and clear plans for what happens to digital assets if a game is discontinued.
InfiniGods' final GOD distribution on October 26 will mark the end of its recurring Vault rewards, while the subsequent server shutdown will bring its active gaming ecosystem closer to its conclusion.
For its community, the NFTs may remain. The original gaming experience, however, is coming to an end.
