After a turbulent launch, Hunters of Faenora has officially restarted its Alpha Hunt tournament, bringing back excitement, competition, and an enormous prize pool. With balance issues resolved and new NFT requirements shaping the battlefield, this event is set to test the limits of players, guilds, and the FaenoraVerse itself.
Let’s dive into what makes this restart such a major milestone for the web3 roguelite scene.
Why the Alpha Hunt Needed a Restart
The original Alpha Hunt went live on August 30 with open registrations and early backing from major guilds like Neo Tokyo, Superverse, and Beacons.GG. However, things quickly went sideways.
Players encountered Error 22 bugs, unequal token distributions, and missing onboarding guides. To make matters worse, last-minute code changes tilted the playing field, giving some competitors unintended advantages. With the chaos overlapping a holiday weekend, the developers at 2TG had little choice but to hit pause.
On September 10, the decision was made: a full restart to protect fairness and restore competitive integrity.
NFT Access Now Required
This time around, entry comes with a twist—access to the Alpha Hunt is limited to those who hold at least one Mercenary NFT. These hybrid NFT characters serve as evolving combatants that can be rerolled, swapped for tokens, or traded within the game’s economy.
Currently, a Mercenary NFT costs 120 USDC, with only 40 left in the final pre-sale wave. As an added incentive, one lucky buyer will score the exclusive Alistair Fell Knight hero, a rare combatant tied directly to the event.
500,000 $MCHY Prize Pool and Survival Mechanics
The format still centers on roguelite survival runs, where every decision carries high stakes.
Each of the 250 players begins with 75,000 $MCHY.
Lose it all, and you’re eliminated.
The last survivors fight for a share of the 500,000 $MCHY prize pool.
With heavy guild involvement and a refined ruleset, this is FaenoraVerse’s first major live stress test of its competitive economy.
Mercenary NFTs and Their Role in Hunt Mode
Mercenary NFTs are more than just tickets into the tournament—they’re at the core of progression and strategy.
Evolving characters: Mercenaries gain traits and abilities through gameplay.
Token utility: They can be exchanged for $MCHY or rerolled for better traits.
Marketplace potential: These NFTs can be freely traded across Faenora’s web3 systems.
This design ensures that every NFT has real in-game and economic value, a hallmark of well-designed blockchain games.
Bonus Bounty and Creator Contest
To spice things up, the developers introduced side challenges:
10,000 $MCHY bounty for the first player to defeat the fearsome Nethergryphon boss.
A creator contest rewarding the best highlight reels with USDC prizes.
Sploot AI partnership, automatically clipping and sharing top plays across official channels.
This dual focus on gameplay and content creation ensures that both competitors and community storytellers get a chance to shine.
Leaderboard Rewards Across Multiple Ranks
The prize pool isn’t only for the top players. Rewards are distributed across the board:
Top 8 players: Receive a Golden Ticket to claim an NFT Hero.
9th–12th place: 27,500 $MCHY each.
13th–20th place: 17,000 $MCHY each.
21st–30th place: 13,400 $MCHY each.
31st–41st place: 10,000 $MCHY each.
All remaining players: Get whitelist spots, a RetractKin, and one Escape Portal.
By rewarding depth on the leaderboard, the event keeps mid-tier and newer players engaged while still offering prestige at the top.
Inside the FaenoraVerse
The FaenoraVerse is the creation of indie studio 2TG Entertainment, blending tactical RPG gameplay with cutting-edge blockchain mechanics. It spans two connected titles:
Wildlands of Faenora – a narrative-driven tactical RPG.
Hunters of Faenora – a competitive roguelite where every token matters.
In this universe, the $MCHY token fuels progression, enabling players to recruit, revive, reroll, and upgrade their squads. Mercenaries deliver powerful returns, while Villagers provide budget-friendly support. Both will eventually be minted as NFTs on Solana.
Web2 and Web3 Player Options
2TG is bridging audiences with two editions of the game:
Standard Edition (Web2): A blockchain-free version suitable for Steam players.
FaenoraVerse Edition (Web3): Unlocks full NFT functionality, token rewards, and on-chain progression.
This dual approach allows Faenora to cater both to traditional gamers and to those exploring blockchain gaming.
Built by a Veteran Team
Behind FaenoraVerse is a small but experienced team based in Vancouver:
Nathan Montgomery (Director) – veteran of Age of Empires IV, Warhammer 40K, and Gears of War.
Mitch Lagran (Head of Game Dev).
Deshaun Baylock (Head of Web3 Gamification).
Noah Petrides (Senior Engineer).
Andres Silva (Game Dev).
Saar Bodman (UX/UI Artist).
Jamie Quiring (Composer).
Their vision is to fuse classic tactical RPG depth with modern tokenized economies—a balance many blockchain projects struggle to achieve.
The Road Ahead for Alpha Hunt
With Mercenary NFTs now tied directly to entry and balance issues resolved, the Alpha Hunt has re-emerged as a flagship web3 tournament. For 2TG, this is more than just a competition—it’s the first large-scale stress test of the FaenoraVerse ecosystem.
The restart may have slowed momentum, but the renewed format is already drawing players and guilds back in. If FaenoraVerse succeeds here, it could become one of the defining blockchain games of the year.
