Gotchi Labs Expands Sleepagotchi Beyond Sleep

Sleepagotchi Gotchi Labs

Sleepagotchi is taking its sleep-focused experience in a much bigger direction. The project has announced Gotchi Labs, a consumer AI platform designed to expand the ecosystem into several everyday-life categories, with Health and Wellness serving as the starting point.

At the same time, the project's SLEEP token is becoming CHI, giving the asset a broader role across future products, rewards, access, and commerce. With 2 million all-time Telegram users and $6.5 million in funding, Gotchi Labs is building on an established foundation rather than starting from scratch.

For fans of blockchain games, the move is especially interesting because it combines AI agents, gamified habits, wearable data, NFTs, and an expanding token economy.

Sleepagotchi Becomes the First Gotchi Vertical

Sleepagotchi is not disappearing. Instead, it is becoming the first live vertical inside Gotchi Labs, focused on Health and Wellness.

The original app has been designed around a simple idea: make better sleep more engaging by turning consistency into a game. Users set bedtime and wake-up targets, track their habits through smartphone health data, and earn rewards for staying consistent.

That approach gave the team something valuable beyond sleep statistics: a regular stream of real-world behavioral data.

Sleep is particularly suitable for this model because it happens every day. Users naturally return to the app in the morning, creating a predictable habit loop that can support AI-powered experiences.

The next step is to take what worked in sleep and apply the same philosophy to other areas of daily life.

Health And Wellness Leads The Way

Health and Wellness is the first major category under Gotchi Labs, with Sleepagotchi continuing to operate as its core experience.

The platform already supports AI-assisted interpretation of sleep, recovery, and activity information. Wearable integrations with Whoop, Oura, and Apple Watch provide additional data that can feed these experiences.

The broader wellness roadmap is expected to include areas such as nutrition, giving users more ways to turn personal data into practical recommendations.

Rather than building one giant AI assistant capable of doing everything, Gotchi Labs is taking a different approach. Each vertical will have specialized agents designed around a particular type of behavior.

That structure could make the experience feel more relevant because an AI focused specifically on sleep, meals, or shopping can be designed around the unique information and decisions involved in that category.

Four More Verticals Are Planned

Health and Wellness is only the beginning.

Gotchi Labs has outlined four additional areas for expansion:

  • Shopping and Commerce

  • Fitness and Exercise

  • Productivity and Daily Life

  • Personal Finance

The idea is for every vertical to have its own collection of specialized AI agents.

Some of these concepts are already visible in the current product development. Alongside the Sleep Coach, the team has introduced plans involving a Wellness Coach, Meal Planner, and Shopping Agent.

The Shopping Agent is particularly notable because it connects directly with the planned Shopping and Commerce vertical. In other words, the roadmap is being built around agents that are already becoming part of the ecosystem rather than simply listing future categories.

SLEEP Is Becoming CHI

The ecosystem expansion also explains one of the biggest changes: SLEEP is being renamed CHI.

The original SLEEP ticker made sense when the project revolved around one sleep-focused application. As Gotchi Labs expands into wellness, shopping, fitness, productivity, and eventually finance, a sleep-specific name becomes much less suitable.

CHI is intended to serve as a common layer across the wider ecosystem.

Its planned functions include:

  • AI credits and access

  • Subscriptions

  • Staked user levels

  • Gamified rewards

  • Marketplace access

  • Partner campaigns

  • Commerce across Gotchi verticals

The important distinction is that the token is not being presented as a complete reset. Instead, the project describes CHI as an evolution of the role previously played by SLEEP.

The long-term vision is that rewards earned in one Gotchi vertical could potentially be used across another, creating a connected ecosystem rather than a collection of isolated apps.

The Numbers Behind Gotchi Labs

Gotchi Labs is entering its expansion phase with substantial traction behind it.

The Telegram Lite version of Sleepagotchi has attracted 2 million all-time users. The project also ranked among Telegram's top five grossing applications during the first quarter of 2025 and reported approximately 41% yearly retention.

One of the more interesting figures is user timing. Around 78% of users open the app within 10 minutes of waking.

For a product built around sleep and morning routines, that is an important engagement signal. It suggests the reward and habit mechanics are creating a consistent reason to return.

A recent three-week beta period also generated more than $100,000 in revenue, providing another indication that users are willing to spend within the ecosystem.

Where Blockchain Gaming Fits In

Sleepagotchi's original design already sits somewhere between a wellness application and a blockchain game.

The experience runs on Solana and turns bedtime consistency into an onchain reward system. Players can earn daily NFTs and accumulate vSLEEP through streaks, referrals, and leaderboard activity.

The project also introduced Hunt Mode, adding a light idle-RPG layer to the experience. Its companion character, Dino, develops alongside the player, while NFTs can be used for character upgrades and home customization.

That combination is important because the NFTs are connected to gameplay and progression rather than existing purely as collectible assets.

The result is a habit loop with game mechanics attached: users perform an activity they already need to do, receive rewards for consistency, and have an additional reason to return the following morning.

A New Chapter For The Team

The expansion also comes with changes to the leadership structure.

Sleepagotchi was founded in 2022 by Anton Kraminkin, who is moving into a strategic advisor position. Games industry veteran Kenny Wood has taken over as CEO to lead the next stage of development.

Shalini Wood and Aditya Julka, founders of Signal Labs, have also joined as growth partners.

The company, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has raised $6.5 million in total funding, including an initial $3.5 million seed round. Its backers include firms such as 6th Man Ventures, Collab+Currency, Sfermion, 1kx, Alliance, GSR, Signal Labs, and others.

The funding gives Gotchi Labs resources to develop its AI agents and expand beyond the original sleep product.

What Comes Next For Gotchi

The most interesting part of the Gotchi Labs announcement is that Sleepagotchi is no longer being positioned as the entire destination.

It is becoming the Health and Wellness entry point into a broader consumer AI ecosystem.

If the planned verticals arrive as outlined, users could eventually interact with Gotchi agents for sleep, nutrition, shopping, exercise, productivity, and financial activities while using CHI as the common access and rewards layer.

For the blockchain gaming space, this represents an unusual direction. Instead of adding AI to an existing game simply as a feature, Gotchi Labs is attempting to combine AI agents, behavioral data, game mechanics, NFTs, and blockchain-based rewards into a much larger consumer platform.

Sleepagotchi proved that a daily habit could become a game. Gotchi Labs now wants to find out how far that idea can go beyond bedtime.
