DappRadar Ends a Seven Year Journey

 DappRadar

A Major Web3 Platform Reaches Its Final Chapter

In a surprising announcement on November 17, 2025, DappRadar — once the dominant analytics hub for decentralized applications — revealed that it is shutting down after seven years of service. The news spread quickly across X, where founders Skirmantas Januškas and Dragos Dunica explained that financial pressures and an unforgiving market made continued operations impossible.

For many in the industry, this marks the end of an era. DappRadar wasn’t just another data site — it was often the first stop for users, builders, and investors trying to understand what was happening across DeFi, NFTs, and especially Blockchain games.

The Shutdown Will Happen in Stages

The team shared that services will begin winding down immediately. This includes the full removal of blockchain tracking, dApp rankings, and all analytics tools. Everything that once powered their dashboards — from smart contract scrapers to cross-chain indexing — is being phased out.

One important note is that the RADAR token and the DappRadar DAO will not disappear instantly. More details are coming, and the DAO’s treasury wallet remains publicly visible for anyone monitoring the situation. As the founders clarified, the DAO is separate from the platform, which gives the community some time to decide what comes next.

Reflecting on the Journey Since 2018

DappRadar’s farewell message included a heartfelt acknowledgment of the platform’s evolution. What began as a weekend project aimed at making blockchain data easier to understand eventually grew into a major analytical backbone for the web3 ecosystem.

Over the years, DappRadar became a trusted reference in research papers, gaming reports, developer documentation, and thousands of media articles. The platform partnered with countless blockchain projects and guided millions of users during critical cycles — from explosive bull markets to deep bear seasons.

But maintaining such infrastructure is expensive. In their announcement, the founders admitted that sustaining the platform in the "current environment" had become impossible despite attempts to pivot, optimize costs, and explore alternatives.

Community Reactions: “The End of an Era”

The announcement triggered strong reactions from the web3 community. Well-known blockchain gaming writer 1mpal noted that while DappRadar wasn’t always perfectly accurate, it remained one of the best ways to get a broad sense of how gaming projects were performing.

Others called the shutdown “sad news” and “bad news for crypto,” emphasizing how few neutral analytics platforms remain. The Telos blockchain, which relied on DappRadar metrics for years, thanked the team publicly and expressed hope that they would build again.

The sentiment echoed across web3: gratitude mixed with concern. With 2025 being an incredibly difficult year for crypto startups and Blockchain games, DappRadar’s shutdown feels symbolic of a larger trend.

From Small Experiment to Web3 Powerhouse

The story of DappRadar’s origins is almost legendary at this point. In 2018, two Lithuanian entrepreneurs — inspired by early dApp experiments like CryptoKitties — launched the project with support for just one blockchain: Ethereum.

Within its first year, the platform expanded to EOS and Tron. Over the next few years, it ballooned to covering more than 90 networks. Investors took notice, contributing seed funding in 2019 and a $5 million Series A round in 2021 from top firms like Lightspeed Venture Partners, Naspers, and Blockchain.com Ventures.

This growth transformed DappRadar from a small tracker into a global analytics leader.

What DappRadar Brought to the Ecosystem

Before its shutdown, DappRadar offered one of the most comprehensive toolkits for discovering and analyzing decentralized applications:

  • Real-time tracking of unique active wallets

  • Transaction volume comparisons across chains

  • Total value locked (TVL) monitoring

  • NFT collection analytics, including pricing and volume

  • Deep reporting on GameFi and Blockchain games analytics

  • Portfolio tracking for connected wallets

  • Governance via the RADAR token and DAO

It served investors, game studios, journalists, researchers, and everyday users — anyone who needed clear insights into on-chain activity.

The Uncertain Future of the RADAR Token

As expected, RADAR reacted sharply to the shutdown news, dropping 38% in 24 hours. The team emphasized that the DAO’s future is still undecided and will be determined by the community through its normal channels.

Will the DAO continue independently? Will token utility shift? Could a community-led revival emerge?

Right now, no one knows. But the DAO’s survival offers at least a glimmer of possibility.

A Tough Year Claims Another Major Platform

DappRadar isn’t alone. The broader web3 gaming and DeFi ecosystem has faced a series of shutdowns throughout 2025. Even projects with strong teams and substantial funding have struggled.

Some examples include:

  • Nyan Heroes, despite $13M in funding

  • Blast Royale, which raised $5M

  • Tokyo Beast, shutting down just two months after launch

  • Pirate Nation Classic, pivoting to an arcade model

  • Anterris, Derby Race, Goombles, Blade of God, and more

Kryptomon paused development, Loot Legends closed, Champions Ascension reorganized its team, MetalCore went quiet, and The Mystery Society failed to secure funding.

This wave of closures highlights the reality of the bear market: lower VC interest, declining player retention, and shrinking liquidity have made survival difficult even for well-known Blockchain games.

DappRadar’s Legacy Remains

Despite the shutdown, DappRadar’s contribution to web3 is undeniable. It was the go-to destination for real-time dApp data, NFT insights, and blockchain gaming trends. The platform shaped how millions explored decentralized technology.

In their final note, the founders expressed hope that someone will continue the mission — that a new team will “fill the gap and carry the torch forward.”

Whether that happens remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: DappRadar’s impact on web3, analytics, and Blockchain games will be remembered long after its dashboards go dark.
