Compete for $25K in Arise Closed Playtest by Cross The Ages

Cross The Ages second Closed Playtest for Arise

The highly anticipated second Closed Playtest for Arise, the upcoming action RPG by Cross The Ages, kicks off on July 23, bringing new weapons, cooperative play, and a competitive edge to its growing player base. With $25,000 in CTA token rewards up for grabs, this is not just a playtest—it’s a full-blown competition for both loot and leaderboard glory.

Let’s dive into what’s coming in this latest chapter of blockchain games innovation.

What’s New in Arise Closed Playtest 2

This latest test, running from July 23 to July 30, introduces a fresh wave of content, including:

  • Five unlockable weapons using crystal drops

  • Two separate ranked leaderboards

  • $25,000 prize pool in CTA tokens

  • Manual group formation for strategic dungeon raids

  • New Founder's Coin rewards for dungeon clears

Unlike traditional beta phases, Cross The Ages is treating this as an active battleground for community engagement and prize-driven competition.

Unlockable Weapons and Dungeon Crystals

During the playtest, players can earn crystals by completing dungeon levels. These crystals can be used to unlock randomly-tiered weapons, ranging up to the powerful Tier 7—previously locked to deeper progression.

This adjustment allows more players to experiment with builds and strategies early, speeding up both weapon discovery and balance testing across the board.

The system encourages dungeon grinding, where the faster your clear time, the higher your key level, and consequently, your crystal quality.

Leaderboards and CTA Token Prizes

There are two competitive tracks during the playtest:

  • CTA Leaderboard – For Mint Pass holders (usernames tagged with "CTA")

  • Moca Leaderboard – For Moca community members ("MOCA" prefix)

Each leaderboard has a $12,500 prize pool in CTA tokens. These rewards are distributed based on team composition, meaning if you’re in a mixed group, your prize eligibility is tied to your affiliation.

Top performers will receive their tokens within two weeks of the event ending, with values pegged to the average CTA price during the playtest week.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Rank 1 – $2,500

  • Ranks 2–4 – Incremental prize tiers

  • Ranks 101–200 – $15 each

All rewards are wallet-based and require leaderboard placement to qualify.

Co-op Strategy and Group Play Rules

Although Arise supports solo dungeon runs, this test phase strongly favors group play. Teams can consist of up to four players, and higher-tier dungeons are easier to clear when everyone pulls their weight.

However, there’s no built-in matchmaking system this time. You’ll need to coordinate groups through the official Cross The Ages Discord server.

Important details for group participation:

  • No automatic team pairing

  • Rewards are split among group members

  • You can join multiple groups to compete on different leaderboards

  • If even one player qualifies, the whole group is eligible

This system boosts collaboration and lets players optimize for both progression and prize-hunting.

How to Join Arise’s Second Closed Playtest

Access to the playtest requires a unique code tied to your verified account. Here’s how you can get in:

  • Mint Pass holders: A snapshot was taken on July 21. Emails were sent with personal codes.

  • Moca community: Codes are available via the MOCAVERSE website.

Once you have your code, download Arise from the Epic Games Store, install it, and activate your account. One account per user is allowed, based on your highest-level character.

Gameplay Loop and Founder's Coin

The structure of the game is designed for quick progression and replayability:

  1. Enter dungeon solo or with a team

  2. Defeat enemies and finish the run

  3. Earn crystal drops

  4. Unlock new weapons and talents

  5. Level up your key rank

Players who clear a level 10 dungeon during the playtest will receive a Founder's Coin—a special currency for the Founder's Shop during Early Access. These coins don’t work yet but will be valuable later on.

Recap of Phase 1 in May

The first closed playtest ran from May 28 to June 2. It was more limited, featuring:

  • One hero and weapon

  • One dungeon

  • Early leaderboard and talent system

  • Crystal grinding to unlock the Tier 7 Mythical Fire Weapon

Despite the simplicity, this phase was critical for stress-testing servers, fine-tuning controls, and collecting player feedback. Participants who reached level 10 also earned the Founder's Coin, which returns in Phase 2.
