Cambria Secures $2M to Power Its Next Big Leap

A Bold Step Forward for Cambria

The on-chain gaming world just got a lot more exciting. Cambria, the “degen-native” MMORPG that’s redefining what’s possible in blockchain games, has secured $2 million in strategic funding. The round was led by two major names in the industry — Bitkraft Ventures and Sky Mavis, the creators of Axie Infinity.

This new funding isn’t just about keeping the lights on. It’s about fueling the next chapter of Cambria’s ambitious expansion, including its upcoming Gold Rush Season 3, which is scheduled to go live in November 2025.

The Power Players Behind the Raise

The funding round didn’t stop with the two lead investors. It drew in a lineup of recognizable figures and firms from across the crypto and gaming worlds. Among them were Moe (@Yassuo), Zeneca.xyz, Legendary, vydamo, Andrew, apix, and Flowdesk, alongside “many more” according to Cambria’s announcement.

These backers are not your average investors—they’re builders, creators, and power users within Web3. Their involvement signals growing confidence in Cambria’s unique approach to high-risk, high-reward on-chain gaming.

According to Cambria, the $2M boost will help them refine complex game economies, scale up player experiences, and expand their experimental ecosystem of risk-based, decentralized game modes.

A Closer Look at Cambria

So, what exactly is Cambria? Think of it as the RuneScape of Web3, but with a twist — every item, transaction, and victory exists entirely on-chain.

Cambria is an experimental blockchain MMORPG set in a medieval fantasy world. It merges traditional MMO gameplay with real on-chain economics, meaning that when players win or lose, the stakes are more than just digital — they’re financial.

Players dive into a PvPvE (player versus player versus environment) world, battling monsters, trading goods, or fighting others, all while managing their crypto-based resources. Every risk taken can lead to real crypto gains or losses, creating a genuine sense of tension and excitement that traditional games can’t replicate.

NFT Ecosystem and In-Game Assets

Cambria’s economy is supported by three NFT collections with a combined market cap of about $5.3 million:

  • Cambria Founders (Genesis Collection) – Exclusive NFTs representing the earliest supporters of the game. Holders often get early access to new features and closed betas.

  • Cambria Cores – Utility-based NFTs used for crafting, dueling, and economic mechanics. They are key to the Duel Arena and Gold Rush modes.

  • Cambria Islands – Virtual land assets that give players ownership of locations within the Cambria world. They can act as trade hubs, safe zones, or player bases.

While Cores are available on the Ronin network, most of Cambria’s NFTs live on Ethereum, ensuring strong interoperability with the broader blockchain ecosystem.

Game Modes That Define the Experience

Cambria currently offers two main live game modes — Duel Arena and Gold Rush. Each brings a different flavor to the overall universe:

Duel Arena

This is Cambria’s always-live social hub, where players challenge one another in head-to-head duels with real on-chain stakes. Players can engage in mini-games like Pit Fights, Flower Poker, and Dicing, each match carrying the potential to win — or lose — cryptocurrency.

Since launch, Duel Arena has processed over $145 million in total wagers, making it one of the most active crypto-native gaming arenas in existence. Beyond competition, it’s also a lively social space where players trade cosmetics, craft items, and even fish for rare loot.

Gold Rush

If Duel Arena is about personal rivalries, Gold Rush is about survival and ambition. This seasonal MMO mode sends players into high-risk zones where they can mine resources, hunt monsters, and battle for loot — but dying means losing everything.

Gold Rush Season 2 saw 4,500 concurrent players and over $1.5 million in on-chain wagers, an eightfold increase from its debut season. Those numbers speak for themselves — and they set the stage for a monumental Season 3.

What’s Coming in Gold Rush Season 3

The next big chapter in Cambria’s evolution arrives this November, when Gold Rush Season 3 officially launches. While the team hasn’t yet revealed specifics, the expectation is clear: expanded gameplay, refined mechanics, and even deeper integration between the game’s MMO systems and its crypto economy.

This upcoming release will be the first major update funded by the new $2 million raise, signaling a more ambitious vision than ever before.

In the meantime, Cambria is keeping its community entertained with Duel Arena’s Halloween events, where players can win tradable Halloween Masks through duels. These rare items drop at only a 0.5% chance, with mask color determined by wager size:

  • Red Masks for 0.1 ETH and above

  • Green Masks for 0.01 ETH and above

  • Black Masks for 0.001 ETH and above

Additionally, the Pit Fight Champion Token Event kicks off this Friday, featuring a 4+ ETH prize pool, followed by a Haunted Bathhouse Party on Saturday, where the community will compete for titles like Best Dressed, Most Cursed, and Most Unique.

Why Cambria Matters for Blockchain Gaming

What sets Cambria apart isn’t just its tokenomics or its flashy NFT collections. It’s the philosophy behind it — the belief that risk, reward, and ownership can merge into a single, cohesive gaming experience.

In a landscape where many projects are still trying to balance “fun” with “finance,” Cambria seems to have found a formula that works. The combination of immersive MMO gameplay and verifiable on-chain assets is shaping it into one of the most authentic blockchain games to watch in 2025.

Sky Mavis co-founder Jeff “Jihoz” Zirlin summed it up best when he said:

“Cambria has consistently shown their ability to innovate, create new mechanics, and drive massive volume. Very few teams have the conviction to double down on gaming like they do.”

With that level of backing — and a passionate community behind it — Cambria is well on its way to becoming one of the most influential and player-driven universes in blockchain gaming.
