Cambria Dungeons Go Hardcore

Cambria

Cambria is taking its extraction dungeons to a much riskier level. With the launch of V0.4 Dungeons Hardcore on August 22, 2026, Tempest Labs has reworked the way players earn rewards, added new dungeon features, and given survival a much bigger role in every run.

The timing is interesting, too. Cambria’s Dungeons mode has already seen players put more than $5 million in keys at risk across over 242,000 runs. Now, with Cut Gems, Necromancy, and Side Rooms entering the picture, the pressure to survive has never been higher.

For players who enjoy blockchain games where every decision carries consequences, Cambria’s latest update could be one of its most important yet.

Dungeons Are Now About Survival

Cambria’s extraction system has always revolved around a simple but stressful question: Do you cash out now or keep going?

Players spend Depths Keys to enter a dungeon, choose one of three combat classes — melee, ranged, or magic — and select a loadout style such as glass cannon, hybrid, or tank. From there, they can progress through as many as eight increasingly difficult floors.

Previously, depth was a major factor in determining the value of a run. Dungeons Hardcore changes that philosophy by making survival itself a central part of the reward calculation.

That creates a very different risk profile. A player who charges through the dungeon and dies on floor six may walk away with less than someone who takes a more careful approach and successfully extracts.

In other words, staying alive now matters just as much as pushing deeper.

Cut Gems Raise the Stakes

The headline addition in V0.4 is undoubtedly Cut Gems.

Successfully clearing a run can now reward players with Cut Gems, with each one valued at 1,000 keys. Since 10 keys correspond to roughly $1 in stake value, a single Cut Gem represents approximately $100 worth of keys.

That makes a successful full clear considerably more attractive.

Of course, the reward comes with the risk that defines Cambria. Players have to survive the dungeon before they can claim the potential upside. The result is a familiar extraction-game tension: take a smaller reward while it is safe, or gamble everything on reaching the end.

For experienced players, that decision could become one of the most exciting parts of Dungeons Hardcore.

Necromancy Adds Another Strategy

V0.4 also introduces Necromancy, giving players another gameplay mechanic to incorporate into their dungeon strategies.

Cambria already offers different combat classes and loadout archetypes, so the addition of Necromancy expands the number of ways players can approach difficult encounters.

That variety could become particularly important as players experiment with the new survival-focused reward system. A build that works well for rapidly clearing floors may not necessarily be the best option when the ultimate goal is getting out alive.

The update therefore encourages players to think beyond raw damage. Defensive choices, resource management, positioning, and understanding the dungeon can all become more valuable.

Side Rooms Make Runs Less Predictable

Another major addition comes in the form of Side Rooms.

Cambria’s dungeons are procedurally generated, and Side Rooms add more variety to what players can encounter between the main floors. Instead of every run feeling like a predictable sequence of combat encounters, players now have additional opportunities to discover something unexpected.

That matters for an extraction game because unpredictability is part of the appeal. Players need to adapt to what the dungeon gives them rather than simply following a fixed route.

Combined with survival-based rewards, Side Rooms could make every run feel more like a decision-making exercise.

The Numbers Behind Cambria Dungeons

The growth of Dungeons helps explain why Cambria is investing so heavily in the mode.

As of August 5, players had risked $5 million in keys, compared with $1 million on June 30. That represents a fivefold increase in roughly five weeks.

The activity numbers are equally notable:

  • 242,132 total dungeon runs

  • 133,500 fishing casts

  • 87,900 gems appraised

  • More than $5 million in keys risked

Keys serve as both an entry stake and an important part of the dungeon economy. Players determine their risk level, with larger stakes potentially producing higher payout multipliers. Unplayed keys can also be refunded.

How Cambria's Extraction Economy Works

Rewards collected during dungeon runs are converted into Dungeon Coins. These can either be redeemed through the Dungeon Liquidity Pool for weekly USDC payouts or traded directly between players.

An 8% payout fee supports ecosystem development, while a player's Signet Tier can reduce the tax applied to redemptions.

Dungeons also connect with Cambria’s fishing system. Introduced in patch V0.3.0, Dungeon Fishing lets players use Grub as bait to obtain gems, charm cards, NFTs, and chests, which ultimately convert into keys.

This creates an interconnected economy rather than making Dungeons an isolated game mode.

What Makes Cambria Different?

Cambria is a browser-based risk-to-earn MMO developed by Tempest Labs, drawing inspiration from games such as RuneScape and Ultima Online. It operates across Ronin, Blast, and Abstract, supports NFTs, and can be played on Windows, Mac, Linux, and the web.

Its defining concept is risk. Players can gather resources, fight monsters, trade, craft, explore, participate in PvPvE content, or enter high-stakes duels — but many activities involve putting valuable assets at risk.

Beyond Dungeons, the MMO features Gold Rush, its broader PvPvE experience, and Duel Arena, where players can participate in winner-takes-all battles using assets such as Base ETH, tokens, NFTs, or friend.tech keys.

The player-driven economy is another important component. Scarce resources and player-controlled trading mean individual decisions can influence prices across the wider world.

Cambria Is Building Toward Something Bigger

Dungeons Hardcore arrives while Cambria continues expanding its broader ecosystem. Recent updates have introduced areas such as the Dark Forest and Swamps, combat changes, new weapons, special attacks, Strongboxes, regional servers, and a redesigned Tutorial Island.

The game has also surpassed 130 million USD in game volume and more than 112,000 registered players.

With the RSGP token generation event planned alongside the Genesis mainnet launch and Gold Rush Season 4, Cambria has plenty more on the roadmap.

For now, though, Dungeons Hardcore puts the spotlight firmly on survival. When a Cut Gem can represent around $100 in stake value, every monster, Side Room, and decision suddenly matters a lot more.

And that is exactly what makes Cambria’s latest dungeon update so compelling.
