A New Era for Calamity Players
Calamity is back with another exciting event, and this time it’s bigger than ever. Following August’s successful Incentivized Technical Test, the developers are preparing to launch the Guild System Playtest. Running from September 30, 10 AM UTC to October 3, 1 PM UTC, this new session introduces scholarships, sponsors, and guilds — alongside a massive 3 million $WYRM token prize pool and a Wyrm Tribute reward pool starting at 2000 $RON.
For players who want to combine fun gameplay with earning opportunities, this is one of the most anticipated blockchain gaming events this fall.
What Is Calamity?
Calamity is a free-to-play action RPG set in a retro-inspired pixelated fantasy world. It blends real-time PvE and PvP combat with a player-driven economy, making it one of the standout titles among blockchain games.
Players take on dungeons filled with bosses and enemies, leveling up classes, upgrading gear, and building characters that fit their preferred playstyle. Each playtest has included reward opportunities, ranging from USDC and NFTs to token airdrops.
The last playtest in August saw nearly 6000 unique players battling it out for rewards, with the prize pool growing 16x thanks to player contributions. Now, with guilds and scholarships in play, accessibility and rewards are about to reach a whole new level.

What’s New in the Guild System Playtest?
This playtest is all about introducing Guilds — a feature that allows players to collaborate more effectively and lower the barrier to entry for newcomers. Guilds can host up to 75 members and feature two key mechanics:
Scholarship System – Guild leaders and sponsors can fund Season Passes and Time, allowing scholars to play and share profits without paying upfront.
Guild Leaderboard – A ranking system that rewards top-performing guilds with $WYRM tokens.
With the new Treasury system, sponsors deposit Gold into their guild, and leaders decide how to use it. Scholars then play and share profits (typically an 80/20 split). Sponsors benefit passively from scholars’ success, while scholars gain free access to earning opportunities.
It’s a win-win setup designed to make blockchain gaming more accessible to a wider audience.
The Reward Pools and Leaderboards
The rewards for this playtest are substantial, with $25,000 worth of tokens up for grabs across multiple leaderboards and prize pools:
Valor (Solo) – 1,000,000 $WYRM for the top 185 players
Guilds – 1,225,000 $WYRM for the top 5 guilds
Fame (Referrals) – 450,000 $WYRM for the top 60 referrers
Sponsors (Scholarships) – 325,000 $WYRM for the top 40 sponsors
On top of that, the Wyrm Tribute pool starts at 2000 $RON (1 million Gold) and grows as players purchase Season Passes. Unlike previous tests that used USDC, this one uses $RON, aligning rewards more closely with the Ronin ecosystem.
Factory NFTs and In-Game Purchases
Another highlight is the ability to purchase Factory NFTs directly in-game using Gold. Players who acquire these NFTs unlock eligibility for $WYRM token earnings and special in-game benefits. This adds another layer of incentive for both casual and competitive players.
The decision to integrate NFT purchases into the in-game economy shows how Calamity continues to experiment with innovative ways to bridge gameplay and blockchain rewards.
How to Play to Earn During the Test
From September 30 to October 3, anyone can join the Guild System Playtest and earn rewards. Here are the main paths:
Join as a Scholar – Find a guild that sponsors your Season Pass and play to share profits.
Buy a Season Pass – Available for just 2000 Gold or $2, unlocking access to the Wyrm Tribute pool.
Compete for Leaderboards – Whether solo, as a sponsor, or as part of a guild, climbing the rankings offers a chance at major $WYRM allocations.
Earn $RON via Wyrm Tribute – Every 500 Gold you earn equals 1 $RON, so even casual play can net crypto rewards.
Participation is straightforward: download the open beta build for Windows or Mac via the official Discord, wishlist the game on Steam or the Epic Games Store, and jump into the dungeons when the servers go live.
Why This Matters for Blockchain Gaming
Events like the Calamity Guild System Playtest highlight how blockchain gaming is evolving. By integrating scholarships, passive earnings, and guild collaboration, the developers are lowering entry barriers while creating scalable earning opportunities.
This playtest also shows how blockchain mechanics like token airdrops, NFTs, and community-driven prize pools can merge seamlessly with traditional RPG gameplay. For players, it’s not just about slaying bosses — it’s about being part of an ecosystem that rewards participation and teamwork.
Final Thoughts
If you missed August’s test, this is your chance to get in early, play for fun, and potentially earn both $RON and $WYRM. With over $25K in prizes, guild-based collaboration, and easier access for scholars, the Guild System Playtest promises to be one of the most engaging blockchain gaming events this season.
Whether you’re a scholar looking for free entry, a sponsor aiming for passive income, or a hardcore player climbing leaderboards, Calamity is giving everyone a reason to join in.
