Battle For Giostone Returns to Browser

Battle For Giostone is back, and this time, players can jump into the action without downloading a launcher. Developed by M-Tech Entertainment, the free-to-play 5v5 MOBA relaunched on October 18, 2026, with a rebuilt browser version for PC and mobile. Alongside the relaunch, the studio introduced a two-week Launch Season featuring a $5,000 prize pool paid in GBFG, the game's in-game currency.
The comeback also brings fresh attention to the project's blockchain plans. While the new BFG token is not available yet, M-Tech has published its tokenomics and outlined how existing supporters will transition to the new token.
For players interested in competitive multiplayer, Hero customization, and blockchain gaming, there is plenty to explore. Here's what you need to know about the relaunch, rewards, gameplay, and upcoming token plans.
Battle For Giostone Is Back in the Browser
The rebuilt version of Battle For Giostone went live on October 18, three days later than originally planned. The biggest change is accessibility: players can now launch the game directly in their browser on PC and mobile devices without installing additional software.
Instead of downloading a client and going through a lengthy setup, newcomers can create their own Hero and head straight into matches. This approach could make it easier for the game to attract players who want to try a competitive MOBA without committing to a large download.
M-Tech Entertainment announced the relaunch on September 11, explaining that the game was being rebuilt "from the ground up, for the browser." The new release represents a significant step forward from earlier versions that required a downloadable launcher.
For fans of blockchain games, Battle For Giostone combines familiar multiplayer competition with Hero customization and a broader ecosystem built around digital assets.
A $5,000 Launch Season Rewards Ranked Players
To accompany the relaunch, M-Tech introduced a two-week Launch Season running until November 1, 2026. The competition distributes $5,000 worth of GBFG among the top 100 ranked players on each of the European (EU) and Southeast Asian (SEA) servers.
Each server receives a $2,500 allocation, giving players in both regions an opportunity to compete for rewards.
The prize distribution is identical across the two servers:
1st place: $400
2nd place: $250
3rd place: $150
4th–5th places: $100 each
6th–10th places: $60 each
11th–20th places: $35 each
21st–50th places: $15 each
51st–100th places: $8 each
Players must complete at least 10 ranked matches on either EU or SEA during the Launch Season to qualify for leaderboard placement. Until they meet that requirement, their ranking remains marked as "Unplaced."
The competition uses matchmaking rating, or MMR, to determine standings. Winning ranked matches increases a player's rating, while losing decreases it.
Another welcome detail is that players do not need to own rare NFTs or premium Heroes to participate. Any owned Hero is eligible, including the free Hero provided when signing up.
All rewards are scheduled to be paid in GBFG after the Launch Season ends.
How GBFG Works and What's Coming With BFG
GBFG is Battle For Giostone's in-game currency and serves as the reward mechanism for the launch competition.
Players can earn it through victories:
Ranked win: 250 GBFG
Unranked win: 25 GBFG
Loss: 0 GBFG
Ranked matches therefore offer a substantially larger reward, giving competitive players an additional reason to improve their performance.
However, GBFG should not be confused with the upcoming BFG token. On October 18, M-Tech published tokenomics for the new BFG token, confirming a total supply of 150,000,000 BFG.
The studio has also outlined a planned conversion process. Once the new token launches, holders of GBFG will be able to swap their in-game currency into BFG. The team says it will announce the conversion details in advance.
Importantly, the new token is not live yet. M-Tech has explicitly warned players that no BFG is currently being sold by the team. Tokens advertised as official BFG before an authorized announcement should therefore be treated with caution.
Existing Token Holders and Genesis NFT Owners
The relaunch also addresses the project's existing community, including players who supported the original version.
According to M-Tech, holders of the original BFG token will receive the same amount of the new BFG token. This planned arrangement is intended to preserve their token balances during the transition.
Genesis Hero NFT owners are also covered. The studio says owners will receive back every Genesis Hero they currently hold.
The Hero marketplace offers another notable detail for players interested in digital asset trading: sellers keep 95% of each sale. This structure leaves most of the transaction value with the seller, although players should still consider any applicable costs and the risks associated with digital asset markets.
The precise timing and mechanics of the new token launch, including the GBFG conversion process, remain important details to watch for in future announcements.
How Battle For Giostone Matches Work
Battle For Giostone follows the familiar 5v5 MOBA format, with two teams competing for control and trying to outperform their opponents.
Matches run for a fixed 30 minutes and conclude in a shrinking arena. During each match, Gio spawns three times, while three stones determine which team controls the power on the map.
This setup gives matches a defined structure, combining team fights with objectives that can influence how each side approaches the game.
Matchmaking pairs players according to their ratings within the same game mode and region. When the player population is low, AI-controlled players can fill empty slots, helping matches get underway even when there are not enough human participants online.
For a newly relaunched game, this can be particularly useful. A healthy player population takes time to develop, and AI opponents or teammates can help reduce the impact of quiet periods.
The studio has also indicated that Season 1 of the Primal Giostone League will follow the relaunch, potentially giving competitive players another reason to stay involved beyond the initial prize event.
Hero Forging Makes Customization Central to Gameplay
One of Battle For Giostone's defining features is its Hero forging system. Rather than simply selecting a predefined character and sticking with a fixed ability set, players can build a Hero around different abilities and combat preferences.
The system includes six classes and 47 abilities. Each Hero has four equipment slots, corresponding to the hands, legs, body, and head.
To forge a Hero, players choose a class and then select abilities for each slot. The head slot determines the Hero's ultimate ability, while the other three slots provide additional abilities.
Class synergy matters. Abilities perform best when they match the Hero's own class, encouraging players to consider specialization alongside flexibility.
This creates room for experimentation. Players can explore different combinations, adapt their approach to team needs, and discover builds that suit their preferred playstyle.
Six original Heroes return for the relaunch:
Akuma
Lucius
Gogmangog
Gurluk
Ranvir
Auri
These characters retain their original 2022 models, although they now feature updated portraits.
For competitive players, learning how abilities interact and finding effective combinations could become just as important as improving mechanical skill.
From an Avalanche-Era Project to a Full Rebuild
Battle For Giostone has been in development for several years. The project's original BFG token launched through an initial exchange offering on Avalaunch in October 2022, connecting its early blockchain plans with the Avalanche ecosystem.
The game reached pre-alpha in November 2022, followed by further development and the introduction of the Primal Giostone League. The competition was initially announced with a $20,000 prize pool.
In May 2023, the team released its Genesis Hero NFT collection. Later alpha versions continued developing the game's systems, but playing them required downloading a launcher.
The September 2026 rebuild marks a new chapter. By moving the experience into the browser, M-Tech has changed how players access the game while bringing its competitive and customization systems back into focus.
The original game also featured a story mode in which players fought creatures to collect materials for the Forging Machine. Those materials could be used to create new Heroes as NFTs, while resources could be traded or sold to other players.
Whether and how all these earlier features will return in the rebuilt version remains something to follow as development continues.
What Comes Next for Battle For Giostone?
The immediate priority is the Launch Season, which ends on November 1, 2026. Players who want to qualify for rewards should complete at least 10 ranked matches and compete for a place among the top 100 on their chosen server.
Beyond the leaderboard, the next major milestones include the new BFG token launch, details of the GBFG-to-BFG conversion, and the upcoming Primal Giostone League season.
The browser-based release gives Battle For Giostone a more accessible starting point, while its Hero forging system provides a gameplay hook beyond the blockchain economy. The planned token transition and Genesis Hero arrangements could also help reconnect the project with its earlier supporters.
For now, players can try the relaunched MOBA, experiment with Hero builds, and compete for GBFG rewards without downloading a game client. The longer-term test will be whether M-Tech can turn this relaunch into a sustainable competitive game with an active community and a clearly communicated blockchain ecosystem.
