Aniimo Launches With Egg Heist

The wait is over for creature-catching RPG fans. Aniimo, Pawprint Studio’s colorful open-world adventure, has officially launched on PC and current-generation consoles, giving players a new world to explore, creatures to collect, and battles to fight.
The free-to-play RPG went live on September 16, 2026, across Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X/S. Android and iOS players will have to wait a little longer, with the mobile version scheduled for September 23.
For anyone following the growing world of blockchain games and next-generation gaming experiences, Aniimo is also an interesting example of how creature collection can be pushed beyond the familiar catch-and-battle formula.

Welcome to the World of Idyll
Aniimo takes players to Idyll, a colorful continent filled with creatures, exploration opportunities, battles, and environmental challenges.
At its core, the game follows a familiar creature-catching RPG formula. Players explore the open world, discover different creatures, capture them using Aniipods, and assemble a team for combat.
That immediately puts Aniimo in territory familiar to fans of games such as Pokémon and Palworld. However, Pawprint Studio has added a mechanic designed to give its game a more direct connection between players and their collected creatures.
And that is where Twine comes into the picture.
Twine Lets Players Become Their Creatures
The Twine system is arguably Aniimo’s biggest gameplay differentiator.
Rather than simply commanding creatures from the sidelines, players can merge with their collected Aniimo and transform into them. These transformations can be used during battles as well as for solving environmental puzzles.
This creates another layer to the traditional creature-catching loop.
Instead of thinking only about which creature belongs in a particular team, players can also consider which transformation might be useful while exploring Idyll. The mechanic has the potential to make creature collection feel more connected to exploration rather than treating it as a separate combat system.
It also gives Aniimo a distinct visual and gameplay identity in an increasingly crowded creature-collection genre.
Aniimo Launch Platforms
Aniimo is designed as a cross-platform experience, and the launch lineup covers PC and current-generation consoles.
Platform | Availability |
Steam | September 16, 2026 |
Epic Games Store | September 16, 2026 |
PlayStation 5 | September 16, 2026 |
PlayStation 5 Pro | September 16, 2026 |
Xbox Series X/S | September 16, 2026 |
Android and iOS | September 23, 2026 |
Nintendo Switch 2 | Not available at launch |
The game is free to play, so players on supported platforms can jump into Idyll without purchasing the base game.
Another important feature is cross-play and cross-progression. Players can move between supported platforms while maintaining their progress through the same account.
That makes the launch particularly flexible for players who might prefer PC gaming at home but want to continue their adventure on another supported device.

Mobile Players Get the Game One Week Later
Mobile availability is the one major launch difference between platforms.
Android and iOS were originally expected to receive Aniimo alongside PC and console players, but Pawprint Studio confirmed that the mobile release has been pushed back by one week.
The new mobile launch date is September 23, 2026.
Pre-registration is available through the Google Play Store and App Store, giving mobile players a chance to prepare ahead of release.
Importantly, the delay does not mean mobile players are entering a separate version of the game. Cross-progression means they can eventually connect their account with other supported platforms and continue their existing progress.
Egg Heist Adds a PvPvE Twist
Aniimo isn't relying exclusively on its open-world RPG mode.
At launch, players also get access to Egg Heist, a PvPvE mode taking place in the Lost Isles region.
The concept changes the pace considerably. Players form three-player teams and search for valuable eggs while dealing with both AI-controlled enemies and other real players.
That combination creates a more tactical experience than the traditional creature-catching adventure.
Egg Heist may feel familiar to players who have spent time with extraction-style games such as Arc Raiders or Marathon. Teams need to explore, fight, and compete against other groups while pursuing their objectives.
Having this mode available from day one gives Aniimo another way to play beyond its main open-world adventure.
Competitive Battles Are Part of the Experience
The main RPG mode also includes competitive battles against other players, referred to as Pathfinders.
This means Aniimo isn't just about exploring Idyll and collecting creatures. Building an effective team and understanding the abilities of different Aniimo can become important for players who want to test themselves against others.
Combined with Twine transformations, the combat system has several different layers for players to experiment with.
For creature-collection fans, that combination of exploration, collection, transformation, and competition could make team-building more interesting over time.
What About Nintendo Switch 2?
One notable omission from the launch lineup is Nintendo Switch 2.
Pawprint Studio has not confirmed a Switch 2 version of Aniimo, meaning the game is currently unavailable on Nintendo's latest console.
There is also no confirmed future release date for the platform at this time. For now, the officially announced platform lineup remains PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile from September 23.
Players who want to start playing immediately will therefore need access to one of the supported platforms.
Aniimo Is Live Now
Aniimo's launch brings together several familiar ingredients — creature catching, open-world exploration, team battles, and a colorful fantasy setting — while adding the unusual ability to transform into collected creatures through Twine.
The additional Egg Heist PvPvE mode also gives the game a very different multiplayer experience, with three-player teams competing against both AI enemies and rival players.
With PC and console versions live today, mobile players joining on September 23, and cross-play and cross-progression connecting the supported platforms, Aniimo is now ready to welcome players into Idyll.
Whether the creature-catching formula is enough to stand out in a competitive genre remains something players will discover for themselves, but Pawprint Studio has clearly built Aniimo around more than simply collecting creatures. Between Twine transformations and Egg Heist, there are several systems waiting to be explored from day one.
